KAEFER moves a big step further in the segment of cruise ship refurbishment

	With the acquisition of the majority in MML Shipbuilding Oy, a company located near Turku in Finland, the KAEFER Group strengthens its business portfolio and focuses even stronger on providing key services to the cruise ship industry. Since its beginning in 1918, the KAEFER Group has participated extensively providing services in insulation and cold storages’ erection for the shipbuilding industry. Later, KAEFER expanded its services offering interior outfitting for newbuilding of cruise ships in shipyards in Germany, Finland and France. MML Shipbuilding Oy is specialized in managing the complex process of large refurbishment projects, whose onboard execution normally involves more than 100 workers and lasts less than two weeks. In these projects complete public areas (restaurant, solarium, disco, etc.) and a lot of cabins are renovated and modernised. MML worked successfully in large refurbishment projects for major cruise lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Crystal. The synergies between the KAEFER Group and MML Shipbuilding Oy will add value to the refurbishment projects bringing several advantages to the cruise lines and specialized shipyards. Shortly after MML came into the KAEFER Group, an order for the refurbishment of the SPA area in “CRYSTAL SERENITY” was received to the great satisfaction of the parties involved. KAEFER has over 7000 employees in more than 30 countries having achieved a turnover of around 600 Million Euros in 2004.
