KAEFER Shipbuilding: Entrance to the Greek market and numerous international orders

With the acquisition of the majority of the Greek company Ippokampos Interior Technologies SA in March, the KAEFER Group continues specializing in the segments of interior design and outfitting for mega yachts and other luxury passenger ships.

Ippokampos Interior Technologies SA was founded by the family Amiradakis, to continue with a tradition and expertise of three generations of artisans delivering high-level interiors.

The company has high design capabilities, is able to manufacture high quality furniture in its own facilities in Athens and can perform turnkey projects for interiors of luxury ships.

Ippokampos is an active player in the Greek market and will also support other companies of KAEFER within Europe as a new member of the Group’s shipbuilding network.

Orders all over Europe

Besides these important news, the beginning of 2006 is also showing other success stories for the shipbuilding activities of the KAEFER Group worldwide.

The Finnish company MML Shipbuilding joined the Group in 2005, secured high value contracts with Royal Caribbean International and the Italian shipyard Fincantieri for the refurbishment of the “CELEBRITY CENTURY”. The works will start in May 2006 in Palermo.

In Germany, another important order was obtained for performing thermal and acoustic insulation as well as the supply of pantries and cold stores for a mega yacht going to be built by Thyssen Krupp Marine Systems.

The Spanish subsidiary KAEFER Aislamientos recorded in March the order intake for interior finishing of accommodation areas in six rescue vessels to be delivered to Viking Offshore services by Astilleros de Zamakona.

Beyond that, Chantiers de l’Atlantique awarded to KAEFER WANNER, KAEFER’s company in France, the design, delivery and installation of cold stores for two MSC’s next generation cruise ships to be built in the French shipyard.

With a total floor area of over 2000 square meters, KAEFER’s scope will include 6 deep freeze rooms, 27 positive temperature rooms as well as 4 large dry stores, all designed and built to the stringent requirements of USPH. Necessary A60 class doors, specially designed by KAEFER for refrigerated areas, are also part of the delivery.

The mentioned projects, for a total amount of approximately 20 million Euros, are a clear example of the success and internationalization of the shipbuilding activities of the KAEFER Group.

KAEFER is the largest independent company specialized in insulation technologies involving heat and cold insulation, noise and fire protection. The KAEFER Group is active in more than 35 countries with over 8,000 employees on the job. In 2005 the Group achieved a turnover of around 700 million Euros.
