KAEFER Launches into Aviation

| Bremen, 14.07.2006. The takeover of two suppliers to the aviation industry has firmly positioned the Bremen KAEFER Group in the aviation sector. Today in Altenburg-Nobitz (Thuringia) KAEFER acquired KTN Kunststofftechnik Nobitz GmbH. Last year saw the company OLUTEX in Seifhennersdorf, Saxony, join the Group. KTN (currently 199 employees) develops, designs and manufactures glass-fibre-reinforced construction parts – air ducts as well as wall and ceiling panels – for the aircraft maker Airbus. These components are assembled at the Airbus works in Hamburg-Finkenwerder and Toulouse. OLUTEX provides the cabin insulation for the entire Airbus programme - including the new A 380 and the A 400 M military transport plane - and also supplies other aircraft manufacturers, making it Europe’s leading supplier of insulation to the aviation industry. All in all, the new business segment KAEFER Aerospace now gives work to 440 employees at various locations in Germany and France. Average yearly turnover approaches some € 40 million. “The acquisition of OLUTEX and KTN is an integral part of our growth strategy“, says Jörn M. Fetköter, Managing Director of the KAEFER Group in Bremen. “We attach great importance to future technology and positioning KAEFER’s specific strengths in the fields of heat, cold and acoustic insulation as well as fire protection in the global growth markets for interior finishing and air-conditioning systems.“ What’s more, KAEFER’s management firmly reckons with synergy effects, for instance in the area of material development. “We are constantly working on the development of new insulation and fire-protection materials which contribute to raising levels of safety and comfort. The European supplying industry can give rise to increased potentials here“, Mr. Fetköter points out. The Bremen KAEFER Group is the world’s largest independent company in the field of heat, cold and acoustic insulation as well as fire-protection. It is active in more than 35 countries around the globe and currently employs some 8,000 people. In 2005 group turnover was around € 700 million. The family-owned company founded in 1918 includes the core business segments ‘industry’, ‘offshore’, ‘ship building’, ‘construction’ and ‘aero-space’. | |||||||||||
