Work at Height
Work at height is defined as working at a place from which a person could be injured by falling from it, regardless of whether it is above, at or below ground level.
At KAEFER we undertake work at height on a continual basis, thus it is important to ensure that all necessary precautions and assessments have been undertaken prior to commencement of work.
Before starting work at height it is important that we:
- Ask – does the work require to be undertaken at height?
If the answer is yes we must:
- Plan and organise the work properly.
- Take account of prevailing conditions such as poor weather.
- Provide a safe place to work, which includes taking additional precautions where there are fragile surfaces to contend with.
- Ensure employees are properly trained and are competent to carry out the work safely.
- Assess the risks from working at height and select and use appropriate work equipment.
- Eliminate any risk of injuries as a result of falling objects.
- Properly inspect and maintain the equipment for work at height
