More than 70 million visitors are expected at this year’s world exposition taking place from May 1st to October 31st in Shanghai, China. Building a sustainable future is at the heart of this prominent event. The motto: “Better City, Better Life”.

Since KAEFER’s strategy and insulation services fit perfectly into this framework, we contribute an exhibit and a touch screen presentation to the State of Bremen’s joint stand at the Expo. We display the model of a concentrated solar power plant to demonstrate the enormous benefits of professional insulation solutions for climate protection and affordable energy supply.

Special focus on solar energy

KAEFER’s foundation is built on traditional industries. We are now also pushing for more activities in the field of renewable energies. A special focus is placed on solar energy. In Spain we have already been involved in large projects regarding the construction of solar power plants.

Our exhibit in Shanghai shows the significant role professional insulation plays for a solar power plant – and why quality is such a huge factor. Heat has to be stored as effectively as possible to allow power generation even at times when the sun does not shine. To achieve this, fluids are stored in tanks at up to 380 degrees Celsius. These tanks require extremely heat-resistant insulation in order to cope with the strains and minimise energy losses. The same is true for the pipelines that lead to the turbines where the power is being generated.

Even more heat builds up at the part of the plant where the sunlight is collected: Up to 1,300 degrees Celsius are measured here. KAEFER supplies high-quality insulation to preserve as much of this energy as possible while making sure that no fires are caused by the enormous heat. We are strongly committed to building a sustainable future. Our presence at the world exposition reflects this attitude and points to solutions that are already available today.
